Miner related FAQ

Currently, the recommended mining pool is DXpool. For other mining pools, we will collect customer requirements and report them to our R&D team. After evaluation, the R&D team will determine whether to optimize miners for these pools. If there are any updates, we will notify customers promptly. Please note that the evaluation and optimization process can take a considerable amount of time, so we recommend using DXpool.

Using unsupported mining pools may result in operational issues such as low hashrate and high rejection rates, which could lead to misjudgments in after-sales technical support.

Generally, our miners do not support cryptocurrencies other than those specified in the product information.

We highly recommend using Goldshell customized PSU.
If you choose to use a non-Goldshell power supply, please ensure the following requirements are met:

  • Wire Gauge: The wire must be 16AWG. Using 18AWG wire may cause overheating and connector damage, which can risk product damage and will be at your own risk.
  • Power Rating: The rated power of the power supply multiplied by 80% should be greater than or equal to the miner's power consumption.
  • Connectors: Multiple independent 2x3 PIN power connectors with 12V output.

The HW error displayed in the Hashboard status is only for a short period of time, and the data from such a short period is not sufficient to determine the root cause of the issue. To accurately assess whether the HW error is too high, you should check whether the average hash rate displayed above the hashrate chart is within the normal range. If it is within the normal range, then the miner is functioning properly. If it is below the standard value, further examine whether the HW error exceeds 5%. If it does exceed 5%, then it is considered to have a high error rate.

For some miners with older firmware, the MAC address will change.

Upgrade your firmware version to the latest will solve this problem.

Firstly, the miner's hashrate refers to its capability to perform hash calculations within a certain timeframe. On the other hand, the hashrate displayed by the mining pool typically represents the effective hashrate received by the pool from that miner. Different pools display hashrate for varying time intervals, such as the last 15 minutes or 12 hours, which results in an average effective hashrate over those periods. Theoretically, after an extended period of mining (e.g., 24 hours), these two values should align. Short-term discrepancies in mining pool hashrate should be regarded as reference data.

If your miner dashboard displays a hashrate within the normal range while the mining pool shows a lower hashrate, it is advisable to observe this for a longer period.

If you need further clarification, you can refer to the FAQ or support team of the specific mining pool you are connected to.

If your miner is displaying "WAN is not connected," you can try the following steps to troubleshoot the issue:

  • Check Ethernet Cable: Ensure that the Ethernet cable connecting your miner to the network is securely plugged in and not damaged.
  • Router Configuration: Verify that your router settings are correctly configured, and the port that the miner is connected to is functional.
  • Restart Miner and Router: Power cycle both your miner and router. Turn them off, wait for a few minutes, and then turn them back on.
  • Check IP Configuration: Ensure that the miner's IP configuration is set correctly. You may need to check the miner's settings and adjust them according to your network configuration. (If you have assigned a static IP)
  • Network Issues: Check for any broader network issues in your area. Sometimes, service outages or connectivity problems can affect WAN connections.

Dogecoin is merged mined with Litecoin, meaning as long as your miner is functioning correctly, you should receive both Dogecoin and Litecoin. If you're not receiving one of them, it's likely a configuration issue with your mining pool or wallet settings, or the mining pool does not support Dogecoin. Consider seeking assistance from your pool provider or check their support resources. For example, you can visit F2Pool's guide on Dogecoin rewards.

Additionally, we recommend using dxpool for a smoother experience. For more information, refer to dxpool's official documentation.

The Hardware versions do not necessarily indicate a newer or older model. These are likely just identifiers for different batches or versions of the product. While the numbers may differ, all miners should perform according to their specifications.

The control boards of miners within the same series are universally compatible. In the event that the control board does not correspond to the model of the miner, it is only necessary to install the appropriate firmware.

For example, if your miner is KDBOX and you have replaced it with the MINIDOGE control board, or if you have replaced it with a different control board and the miner dashboard displays MINIDOGE or another model, you only need to download and install the KDBOX firmware.

Sorry, we do not offer micro SD cards for sale.

Here is a reference image of a micro SD card, and the capacity should be 4GB or more.

Below are the possible reasons:

1. The power supply's grounding wire is not properly connected.

2. The heat sink of the hashboard has come off, causing it to come into contact with the chassis.

1. Insufficient tightening of the fixing screws of the hashboard can cause board burnout, and the burnt area is often near the fixing screws of the hashboard. Therefore, it is important to ensure that the screws are tightened properly when installing the hashboard.

2. A high amount of dust on the hashboard can lead to high-temperature damage to the board.

Compared to miners with only one connector, those with multiple connectors have higher power consumption and need multiple connectors to handle the higher current.

All connectors must be connected to 6PIN power cables. Connecting only one power cable will cause the connector and wire to overheat, potentially leading to damage or burning.

Power cord:

Lite series and professional miners will come with a power cord as well as the PSU.

The power cord we sent you has a type i plug and IEC C19 power connector.

If the power cord provided by the miner doesn't match your local socket, you can opt to purchase an adapter or a power cord that meets the specifications (C19 connector;16A/250V 2.5mm²).

  • 16A indicates a current carrying capacity of 16 Amperes, capable of handling a maximum current of 16 Amperes.
  • 250V indicates a voltage rating of 250 Volts, suitable for environments with a maximum voltage of 250 Volts.
  • 2.5mm² indicates a wire cross-sectional area of 2.5 square millimeters, indicating the wire's conductivity and load-bearing capacity.

Please note: Using a different power cord may impact troubleshooting any potential issues later on.

Adapter:

You can check the picture below and find out what types of plug adapter you need to get.

Transformer/Voltage converter

You cannot update the firmware of MINI DOGE to MINI DOGE PRO and make it work like a MINI DOGE PRO.

It is not possible to change the type of miner through firmware, whether it's changing from MINI DOGE to MINI DOGE PRO or from KDBOX to KDBOX II, and so on.

If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it to the factory settings by pressing the RESET button for 10 seconds. During the reset process, the lights near the IP button will flash simultaneously. The reset is complete once the red light turns off.

Once the reset is complete, the password will be the initial password (123456789).

Similarly, if you are entering the wrong password, you can reset it using the same process.

The hash board cannot be repaired in the following cases:
Corrosion/oxidation: The product is corroded or oxidized partially or completely.
What does a corroded hashboard look like?
Here are some picture:

What if I already sent back a corroded hashboard for repair?

Firstly, according to Goldshell after-sale terms, corrosion is not covered by warranty. Therefore, we may charge for repair cost even if your miner is still under warranty. Secondly, please aware that even after our best efforts, the repaired hashboard may still be prone to corrosion and be broken again. Therefore, we cannot guarantee the longevity of the repaired board and we are not responsible for any damages or losses incurred by corroded hashboards that break again after repair. Thirdly, we will inform you if any corrosion is found on your hashboard when it is being repaired.
